CARBON STEEL flat bar

Mild Steel Flat Bar is a versatile product commonly used in fabrication. With a flat surface and square edge, Sizing is represented as Width x Thickness, for example 40 x 25 = (45 mm Wide x 25mm Thick).

 

1008 steel round bar is comprised of low carbon steel, which allows for ease of formability. Because it is low carbon and produces lower mechanical properties, 1008 steel bar is typically used in less critical applications such as threaded rod and concrete stakes. 1008 cold drawn steel bar offers greater strength due to its increased mechanical properties.

HEAT TREATMENT

It can be heat treated at the following temperatures:

  • Normalizing at 899°C – 954°C (1650°F-1750°F)
  • Annealing at 843°C – 871°C (1550°F-1600°F)
  • Stress relieving at 677°C – 927°C (1250°F-1700°F)
  • Carburizing at 899°C – 927°C (1650°F-1700°F)
  • Hardening at 788°C – 816°C (1450°F-1500°F)
